These “Cadets” are the first nationally-recognized age group for competition.  They begin taking responsibility for organizing their time and training, making the transition from having a teacher to having a coach who helps athletes find their own way.  In addition to physical and technical training, they begin to learn and use mental preparation techniques to help meet the new challenges.  Travel opportunities for training and competition exist.
